York, England. January 30th, 2011

Yesterday, January 30th, was our trip to York. What a city. Many of the ruins are of Roman era and there is so much history that goes with it! I will try to do the city justice by giving history with the pictures. :)

The River Ouse, pronounced like ooze.

                                                              St. Mary's Abbey.

The Traditional red telephone booth.
                                               From the National Railway Museum
                                                  War Memorial Gardens, Leeman Road.
Sorry guys, I have no idea. I loved the architecture!
                                                           St. Leonard's Hospital.
                                                                     Art Gallery.
I believe Petergate. Sorry, I somehow didn't write it down!
                                                              View of York Minster.
                                                         The Grey Rooms.
King's Manor. Henry VIII stayed here!

Monk Bar. You can't see it, but on top are figures of Monk's to protect it.
St. Chubert's Church. The door you see to the left is called "the devil's door," it would be                                          opened during christenings to let the devil out.

                                                                  Not sure. Sorry!
                                                       Not sure. Sorry!
                                                                Clifford's Tower.

White cat at Citygate. It was the architects signature.
                                                       St. George's Church. Catholic!
Millgate I believe. The Monarch does the honor of walking through the gate to be        greeted by the Lord Mayor. Queen Victoria refused, Queen Elizabeth II does the honor even if she is only passing through.
                                                                York Castle!
                                                         Millgate bar again?

                                                                The Red House.
                                                              Not sure. Sorry!
My Traditional Pasty from, the West Cornwall Pasty Co.
Outside of a souvenier shop. We were in heaven!
                                                             Toffee shop....
                                                             Yeah, I got some!

                                                         View of the York Minster.
Another view of the York Minster!

Only one word off from the Cornish Pasty Co. Don't worry, they're better here :)

A few facts about York:

2) It dates back to Roman conquering.
3) Road are called gates, gates are called bars, and bars are called pubs!
4) The Norman king's brought over the brick masons.
5) The York Minster took 250 years to build.
6) Constantine was declared Emperor of Rome at the Minster, as well as many weddings and such!
